Transforming the relationship between schools and communities.
Since 2018, The Addy Foundation has partnered with United to Learn to provide needed resources and support for 50 elementary schools across Dallas ISD.
United to Learn supports 25,100 students and 2,100 educators, one-third of all elementary students in Dallas ISD. They work with 50 schools across the city, and of these students, 92% live in poverty, 51% are English language learners, and 90% have experienced trauma or adverse childhood experiences that have posed additional barriers to learning and academic success.

United to Learn was founded to close the gap created by systemic inequities. Limited public school funding means inadequate resources for children who need them most.
Without interventions, these opportunity gaps lead to alarming shortfalls in reading achievement and later, college attainment for Dallas ISD students.
Despite these threats to learning, third grade reading achievement (the north star of literacy measurement) across United to Learn supported schools has increased by 13 points or 39%, outpacing district, county, and state performance from 2012–2019.
The Addy Foundation’s most recent grant provided crucial funding to support United to Learn doubling the number of schools with whom they work. Beginning in the 2020-2021 school year, United to Learn began partnering with 20 additional Dallas ISD elementary schools in Southern Dallas.
